Tea for Six
'Where there's tea there's hope.' –Arthur Wing Pinero
A masterpiece in design fusion! Vintage teacups painstakingly created into a whole new work of art. From our G&H partner Via Stella, the master of interior and style fusion, comes her Tea Cup Chandelier. Armed with 6 original antique teacups, 1 saucer and 1 teapot balanced gracefully on a glass chandelier and topped with exquisite gold bulbs and crystal droplets. An absolute unique piece, made in Hamburg and one you will be sure never to find again.
6 Vintage Teacups, 1 Saucer, 1 Teapot
6 Gold Bulbs included
Ps. Did you know Chinese teacups don’t have handles? In the early days of Europe’s tea craze, people kept burning their fingers on the cups. The Dutch and the Brits liked their tea hot enough to dissolve sugar and big enough to splash in some milk. But up until this time, most everyone lived on room-temperature ale, so burnt fingers wasn’t an issue. From the get-go, tea was 'the' trendy beverage of the wealthy – but people had a hard time figuring out how to drink it hot, yet gracefully. Along came porcelain handles to protect dainty digits from the heat.
